Less than a week left to get nominations in for the 2019 Innovative Land Management awards

Individuals and groups involved in land management and environmental initiatives in the Western region have until the end of this week to submit entries in the 2019 Innovative Land Management awards.

Nominations for the awards close this Friday, 5 July, and recognise the work of individuals, groups and organisations that focus on projects which help manage or improve their patch of the Western region.

Entrants will compete across five categories for their share of $2,500 in prize money, with winners also receiving a ticket to the 2019 NSW Landcare and Local Land Services conference which will be held in Broken Hill from 22-24 October.

All nominees will also be entered into the 2019 NSW Landcare awards.

Western Local Land Services’ Regional Agriculture Landcare Facilitator, Charles Benson is hoping to see a flurry of entries in the final week.

“There has been some amazing work done throughout the Western region by individuals and groups relating to sustainable land management and innovation,” Mr Benson said.

“These awards are a fantastic opportunity to recognise these people and hopefully inspire others to make positive changes on their properties or in their local communities.”

The five categories for the 2019 Innovative Land Management awards are:

  • individual land manager
  • innovation in sustainable farm practices
  • group land management
  • Indigenous land management
  • youth land management.

Judging will take place in July and winners will be contacted thereafter.
