Great opportunity for professional and personal growth through scholarship

Western Local Land Services is offering a wonderful opportunity for a motivated student through the Russel Harland Memorial Scholarship.

The scholarship, which has been run since 2006 through previous organisations and continued by Western Local Land Services since 2014, targets students approaching their final year of study who have a strong personal, community and educational commitment to rural and regional areas.

The scholarship offers:

  • $5,000 scholarship (one off amount paid over two installments)
  • four weeks of paid work
  • one year guaranteed field officer position (approx. $57,864 p/a)
  • the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and be part of a great team.

Since 2006, eight students have gained employment and two are still employees with Western Local Land Services.

The recipient of the 2019 scholarship, Claudia Bryant, has recently completed two weeks of paid work with Western Local Land Services as part of the scholarship and is looking forward to commencing with the organisation full-time next year.

“Being a recipient of the scholarship has already been a massive help for me financially during my final year of university,” Ms Bryant said.

“Having a full-time position already lined up for next year has taken a lot of the pressure off of my final year and that’s another great benefit of the scholarship.

“I really enjoyed getting out and about in the Western region. I got to meet and work with plenty of landholders and enjoyed getting to know the staff.”

Further information, including the application form, is available on this website or contact Senior Land Services Officer, Kaye Gottschutzke on (03) 5021 9409 or email.

Applications for the scholarship are due by Friday, 16 August 2019.
