Nominate now to be a Local Land Services board member

Local Land Services is looking for enthusiastic and progressive people who are keen to work closely with landholders and local communities to help identify and deliver services that are relevant to local needs.

Nominations for candidates in the upcoming local board elections are open until 10 April and Local Land Services Western Region General Manager, Erlina Compton is calling on ratepayers to nominate a friend, colleague or themselves to contest a seat on the Western Local Board.

“I encourage ratepayers to put forward representatives who can work with us to achieve our vision of resilient communities in productive, healthy landscapes,” Ms Compton said.

"There are great opportunities and challenges ahead of us and we need a board that can represent the community and help guide the work we do.”

Four local board members are locally elected by enrolled Local Land Services ratepayers in the Western region every three years.

Anyone aged 18 or older who lives in the region can be nominated. Nominations close at 12 pm on 10 April and the elections will be held in May.

“The 2017 elections are being undertaken by Australian Election Company who are helping provide objectivity and to support an improved and well-resourced election process,” Ms Compton said.

“Australian Election Company is the first point of contact for enquiries relating to the election process, including candidate information and can be contacted on 1800 224 420.

“A detailed candidate information package is available for anyone considering nominating and can be downloaded from the Local Land Services website or the Australian Election Company website.”

Ms Compton said it was important that ratepayers enrol to vote to have a say about who sits on local boards to communicate the needs of regional ratepayers.

Online enrolment is easy and can be done by visiting the Local Land Services website by 5 pm on 31 March.
