Sign up now for 1080 Canid Pest Ejector training to be eligible for subsidies
29 November 2016
Landholders planning to attend one of Local Land Services Western Region’s 1080 Canid Pest Ejector (CPE) training and wild dog control workshops are strongly encouraged to register by 16 December, to ensure they are eligible for a subsidised CPE kit.
By confirming attendance prior to this date, landholders will be able to pre-order subsidised CPE kits for $200 (conditions apply), which is a significant saving as the CPE kits, which include five CPEs and additional equipment, would normally cost over $400.
Successful completion of one of the one-day workshops, which will be held at Anabranch, Pooncarie, Ivanhoe, Hillston and Balranald from 30 January 2017 to 3 February 2017, will result in a five-year accreditation to use baited products including purchasing 1080 capsules for CPE.
Senior Land Services Officer, Kade Small does not want landholders who know they are going to attend to leave it to the last minute, as they will be ineligible for the subsidised CPE kits.
“These workshops offer great value in themselves, but being able to get a subsidised rate for CPE kits is fantastic and one I would fully encourage landholders to take advantage of,” said Mr Small.
“For us to have enough time to ensure the CPE kits are available at the training day we must have all orders finalised by 16 December.
“We are hoping to train and inform as many landholders as possible through this series of workshops, so if you’re interested please get in touch with your Local Land Services office today.”
Following the training, a wild dog control workshop will be delivered by an industry expert who will focus on a number of key topics, including:
- effective 1080, CPE and foothold trap application and placement
- interpreting wild dog and fox evidence and signs
- wild dog and fox monitoring including utilising motion sensor cameras
- recording sightings and evidence in feral scan.
The 1080 CPE training and wild dog control workshops are being supported by Australian Wool Innovation, who is funding the remaining amount for the CPE kits that the landholders don’t have to pay.
Visit Local Land Services Western Region website for further information.
Lunch and morning tea will be provided at all of the workshops.
