Western landholders to try out world first Spatial Hub technology

Landholders will have the chance to try out world first Natural Resource Management (NRM) Spatial Hub technology at workshops coming up at Broken Hill on Wednesday 26 and Thursday 27 October.

The NRM Spatial Hub is an innovative new land management tool that will enable rangeland managers to efficiently map, plan, analyse and monitor their property infrastructure, land resources and ground cover.

Jasmine Wells from Local Land Services Western Region says for the first time, land managers will be able use and compare their own data with 30 years of NSW Government satellite data in a secure and interactive way.

“In just 30 seconds using the Spatial Hub, it’s possible to analyse and report on seasonal trends in groundcover within a paddock, or across their entire property, for the most recent season and compare it to the last 30 years.”

Local Land Services is hosting the free workshop to showcase technology which has demonstrated significant potential to contribute to a more profitable and sustainable agricultural industry.

“The NRM Spatial Hub enables land managers to identify changes in property infrastructure, land resources and groundcover over time, particularly after management decisions have been put in place,” explained Jasmine.

“Armed with this information, land managers can make informed decisions about how to manage land in future years.”

Landholders are urged to reserve their place early at the Spatial Hub Workshop as places are limited. RSVP to the Local Land Services Broken Hill office on 08 8082 5204.
