Training and Community Activities Funding available
17 November 2014
Local Land Services Western Region is encouraging southern district landholders and community groups to apply for Training and Community Activities Funding.
Community Education Officer, Fiona Harris said funds were available for individuals or groups who want to undertake training or community activities that improve capacity or awareness of sustainable agriculture and natural resource management.
"Training is a high priority for Local Land Services Western Region as it increases the ability of land managers to adopt sustainable practices," Ms Harris said.
"We recognise funding opportunities often become available without a great deal of advance notice, so the Training and Community Activities Program is open all year for people to apply."
In the past year, Local Land Services Western Region has supported landholders to attend training courses such as conservation earthworks, livestock movement and management and grazing for profit.
In addition, the funding has helped to support several local Carp Musters and the Mallee Fowl Recovery Group National Conference, with hundreds of participants improving their knowledge of natural resource management issues.
Ms Harris said there was scope for this funding to assist with a wide range of activities and training.
"The Training and Community Activities Funding Program provides support in a way that is more convenient and effective for residents in the Western Local Region," she said.
"The funding covers course or activity costs, travel expenses and subsidised course material and accommodation costs, up to a value of $5,000."
Funding guidelines and an Expression of Interest form are available at Local Land Services Western Region offices, by visiting www.western.lls.nsw.gov.au or calling 1300 795 299.
