Garden Vale field day
24 July 2014
Western Local Land Services will hold a free information session and property tour for landholders at a property near Wanaaring on Tuesday 5 August.
The informal session will cover topics ranging from animal production to wild dogs, pest management, funding opportunities and carbon trading.
Ben and Paula Bartlett will host the workshop and tour on their property, "Garden Vale Station" from 10am to 3pm.
Senior Land Services Officer – Rangelands Grazing, Jenny Sandow said the workshop would provide an opportunity for landholders to learn about how Western Local Land Services staff can help them and their enterprise.
"We have some new staff who will be working with landholders in the Wanaaring area, so this is a good chance for them to meet some of our land managers and to pass on their expertise," Ms Sandow said.
"A team of our staff will be on hand to deliver a wide range of information, starting with tips on livestock nutrition, with a specific focus on rangeland grazing systems, as well as the latest news on pest animal exclusion fencing projects.
"We will also bring people up to date with Native Vegetation Regulations and funding opportunities for on ground works as well as a recent funding program for wild dogs and other pest management and biosecurity issues.
"We have also had strong interest from rangelands landholders in carbon trading, so we will give an overview of the opportunities that are relevant to this region."
The workshop will take an informal approach and will give landholders an insight to how Garden Vale Station is operated.
Ms Sandow said it's an opportunity for staff to travel to land managers in this isolated part of western NSW so that they can keep up to date with changes in regulations, staffing and funding opportunities.
Lunch will be provided and participants should bring their own chair.
