Fantastic images entered in the 2017 Life and Light Photo Competition

The 2017 Life and Light Photo Competition is proving to be as popular as ever, with a number of amazing images showcasing the beauty, diversity and uniqueness of the Western region entered in the first couple of weeks of the competition.

Since the competition was launched on 1 May, amateur photographers have been constantly submitting entries across eight categories in the hope of winning their part of $3,900 in prize money.

Entrants are permitted to submit up to four photos per category and 10 in total, so there is a great opportunity to claim prizes across multiple categories.

So far, all entrants have done a great job of demonstrating the link between their image and this year’s theme, which is ‘healthy landscapes – healthy food”, which ties in with the theme of the Western Landcare forum that will be held in early August.

Local Landcare Coordinator, Henry Gregory is pleased with not only the quality of photos but also the quantity that have been submitted.

“We are really pleased with the images that are coming in, they have been fantastic,” Mr Gregory said.

“But we really want to remind all the amateur photographers to keep their cameras out and capture more great images to submit in the competition.

“There is some great prize money on offer and getting the title of Life and Light Photo Competition winner is also a great accolade.

“We also want to make sure everyone knows that you are able to submit photos that have been taken since 1 January 2015, they don’t have to be taken from when the competition was launched.

“If you’re unable to get out and take photos but have some great ones from the past couple of years, you can submit those as long as the photos were taken in the Western Local Land Services region.”

This year, all photos must be submitted through the Life and Light website.

On the website, you will also find a gallery of photos already entered in the competition, frequently asked questions, entry rules and more general information.

Entries for the 2017 Life and Light Photo Competition close on Friday, 30 June.

Winners will be announced at the Western Landcare forum dinner in Broken Hill on 4 August 2017.
